About Your Teacher

I’m a homeschool mom teacher of nearly 16 years, a writing teacher trained in the Circe Institute’s Lost Tools of Writing program, a homeschool charter classroom teacher, and a longtime in-person and online teacher of littles through teens. I work with English learners and native English speakers. Curious about my teaching philosophy and how I teach? Read here. 

When I’m not teaching, I work as a certified health and life coach, with a passion for supporting homeschooling moms, tweens, and teens. I especially love coaching pre-teens and teens in study skills, goal-setting, mindset, habit-building, social development, and overall lifestyle leveling up. Tweens and teens are incredibly creative when it comes to setting goals—ask me about that part of my work if you’re curious!

In my free time you are likely to find me working on my tiny urban permaculture spot in the sun, practicing Italian and Latin, volunteering, camping, and hiking. The best thing about life these days is kids who are old enough to go to concerts and who invite me to everything from heavy metal to pop divas to opera. (OK, I am the one who invites them to opera, but still it’s great.)

I love exploring Northern California nature and culture with my family, including our sparky chihuahua/terrier, Earth. She is the first dog I’ve ever had and she fills a dog-shaped hole I didn’t know was there in my heart.

I have also written professionally and extensively as a Marketing, PR, and Communications professional from the time I was a teen who tested out of high school at 16. 

Along the way, I’ve owned a spa, supported pregnant and nursing mothers, and even worked as a travel agent (a cool job that no longer exists!). My younger used to say to me, “Wow, you’re like Barbie with how many jobs you’ve had!” Now she only looks at me sideways and says, “But have you been to the moon?”
