Writers in the Making is a joyful, skill-building writing class that helps students grow into thoughtful, confident communicators.
Small group format: 5–8 students

About the Class
In this once-a-week class, students build the foundations they’ll need for structured essay writing in middle school. Using art, vivid prompts, fairy tales, myths, fables, and timeless works like Fifty Famous Stories Retold, students practice:

Crafting strong sentences

Writing clear paragraphs

Expressing thoughtful opinions
Along the way, they develop voice, stamina, and style.
Placement
A short placement test will be emailed before registering.

Every piece goes through drafting, revision, and sharing in a warm, supportive environment designed to balance rigor and joy.

Thursday Mornings
Building Sentences into Paragraphs

Thursdays, 9:30–10:30 a.m. on Zoom
Rolling Enrollment — $120/month
Some students are ready for more than writing single sentences, but not yet ready for essays. Writers in Transition bridges that gap. Students strengthen grammar awareness, expand sentence variety, and learn to organise ideas into simple paragraphs.

Practice combining sentences with conjunctions (because, but, so)

Add descriptive details

Build simple paragraphs with beginning, middle, and end

Revise for capitalization, punctuation, and spelling
By the end of the session, students will complete a polished paragraph demonstrating strong sentences, clear organization, and growing confidence.

In this 9-week online class, students will strengthen their grammar awareness, expand their sentence variety, and practice organizing ideas into simple paragraphs.
